Samsung To Unveil First Air to Water Heat Pump Lineup for North American Households at CES 2025

Samsung Electronics today announced it will showcase its first Air to Water Heat Pump lineup for North American households at CES 2025. Following availability in Europe, Samsung plans to target the North American market with its Air to Water Heat pump — which features a slim design, AI Home,1 and reliable performance — paving the way for the expansion of these products into the global market.

“It is a great privilege to showcase our latest Air to Water Heat Pump lineup at CES 2025,” said Hang Seok Choi, VP and Head of the Air Solution Business Team for the Digital Appliances Business at Samsung Electronics. “As there is an increasing demand for this new heating system in the North American market, we are excited to build upon our existing expertise based on years of previous experiences, to introduce convenient, powerful solutions to our customers, meeting these requirements.”

A New Consumer Experience

Samsung plans to introduce two types of Slim Fit EHS ClimateHub indoor units to the market: the ClimateHub Mono and the Hydro Unit Mono. The ClimateHub Mono has an integrated water tank, while the Hydro Unit Mono is a wall-mounted unit without a water tank. Along with them, the EHS Mono R32 HT Quiet outdoor unit, which is designed with low noise as low as 35dB(A)2 and uses R32 refrigerant3 will be introduced to the market. Of these three products,4 the ClimateHub Mono and the EHS Mono R32 HT Quiet will be displayed at CES 2025.

As Samsung’s first household-use Air to Water Heat Pump products to be introduced in the North American market, these offerings stand out for their unique capabilities and usability.

The indoor Slim Fit EHS ClimateHub units come with the 7” AI Home,5 an expansive screen that significantly improves convenience. It allows users to intuitively control the temperature and settings. Additionally, users can monitor the status and energy usage6 of connected solar photovoltaic (PV) using the zone overview, as well as control other SmartThings-connected appliances.7

A slim fit design8 of the units allows them to be installed in various locations and seamlessly coordinates with anywhere in the house. Measuring 600mm and 350mm in depth respectively, the ClimateHub Mono9 and the Hydro Unit Mono10 can be installed in a variety of spaces and are particularly suitable for multi-unit dwellings and apartments. Despite the slim fit design, key components like magnetic filters, three-way valves and an expansion vessel for space heating are all included as standard features to ensure timely installation.

Technologies Designed for Efficient Heating Experiences

Both the indoor and outdoor units are designed to achieve optimal performance. First, the indoor unit places a primary emphasis on reducing thermal loss during internal hot water supply operations. By designing a large heat transfer area of the ClimateHub’s tank coil and using three layers of insulation, Samsung has reduced tank heat loss.

Furthermore, the EHS Mono R32 HT Quiet has undergone meticulous engineering to ensure reliable performance even in temperatures as low as -30°C.11 It maintains its stable performance in extremely cold temperatures thanks to the new Scroll Compressor, which compresses refrigerant at much higher pressure, and Flash Injection Technology, which increases the flow of refrigerant. These improvements enable the unit to achieve 100% heating performance in temperatures as low as -25°C12 and consistently supply users with hot water up to 70°C in temperature as low as -15°C.13

Finally, the units further benefit users by supporting AI Energy Mode. Once Slim Fit EHS ClimateHub units are connected to SmartThings Energy,14 users can activate the AI Energy Mode to actively reduce energy use by up to 17%.15

Availability

Samsung started selling its EHS lineup in 2009 and the products are currently available in more than 40 European countries. The company plans to introduce the EHS Mono R32 HT Quiet and new Slim Fit EHS ClimateHub units, equipped with AI Home in the North American market next year.

1 AI Home refers to the 7’’ LCD screen on the product. Does not mean all services available on the AI Home are AI or generate information or outcome using AI. Certain functions accessible through the AI Home utilize AI-based algorithms, which may be updated periodically to improve accuracy. AI-based algorithms may generate incomplete or incorrect information.
2 Based on internal testing of the EHS HTLN outdoor units. The noise level is measured 3m away from the front of the outdoor unit, in an anechoic room with an outside temperature of 7°C. Results may vary depending on environmental factors and individual use.
3 Global Warming Potential (GWP) of R32=675.
4 Product features may be subject to change at the time of launch.
5 A Wi-Fi connection and a Samsung account are required. You may need to use a separate device e.g. your laptop/desktop or mobile device, to create/log into a Samsung Account. If you choose not to log-in, you will not be able to enjoy any features available on AI Home, such as the services available on the SmartThings App.
6 Requires a connection between the EHS and PV system and is activated using the PV function in AI Home.
7 Requires a Samsung account. Appliances must be connected to the Wi-Fi network and registered in the SmartThings App.

11 It delivers a 100% heating performance in temperatures as low as -25°C, based on a leaving water temperature of 55°C. (Not available on the 12kW and 14kW single-phase models.) At -30°C, it delivers a 72~87% of heating performance, based on a leaving water temperature of 55°C.
12 Based on a leaving water temperature of 55°C. Not available on the 12kW and 14kW single-phase models.
13 Leaving water temperature, when the outdoor temperature is between -15°C ~ 43°C. Results may vary depending on the actual usage conditions.
14 A Wi-Fi connection and a Samsung account are required.
15 Based on internal testing using a 5kW model (AE050CXYDEK/EU), compared to not using AI Energy mode. Reduces the energy consumption of supplying sanitary hot water by up to 40% and space heating by up to 10%. Results will vary by model. AI Energy mode can be activated via the SmartThings App. A Wi-Fi connection and a Samsung account are required. Its activation status can be monitored in the Zone Overview screen of AI Home.
